Shady Rest in Johnsonville

They were about to close, but still accommodate my party of 13. Friendly staff, great service and the meal was hot. Will consider stopping again when in the area.

Stopped in today with the Hubs as were just passing through and I have to say.... BEST FRIED PORK CHOP I’ve had in a really long time! They were very busy but had plenty of staff to accommodate. There is a drive thru so you could call in an order and pick up on your way through. It’s a small family restaurant that was warm, friendly and we felt safe being there. Highly recommended!

Great food.prices a little high.but only place to eat in Johnsonville if Jake's is closed.love the ribeye sandwiches and the kids love the club sandwiches.

Southern diner with great homestyle comfort recipes. On Sundays, you'll wait a while. Get there as soon as church let's out! I love the fried chicken for Sunday, and the chicken salad sandwich for lunch. Great breakfasts too!

Very welcome spot for breakfast. Lovely, fluffy pancakes. I tried the cheese omelet which had a lot of cheese but I'm not a fan of orange cheese. It's set way back so may be easily missed and the name can be misconstrued. 🤗

Good food for a very good dollar value. Usually a wait on Sundays around lunch time after Church services.

The potatoes are very dry .. it took 30 mins to get food.. no biscuits during breakfast.. so no biscuits and gravy... and they don't know how to make poach eggs.. won't visit again

This would be a much better place if it were under different management. The man that owns this place is so cheap he doesn't want coffee served in to go cups if you're dining in. He complains about how much sugar and cream u use and I say this because he has actually fussed at his waitresses for serving myself and my friends extra cream and sugar for our coffee and putting our coffee in small to go cups. There's so much more I can say about the manager of this place and how he treats some of his customers but it's not my place to. Personally I don't eat here for a number of reasons. For those of u that read my review and disagree that's fine. You are entitled to your opinion just like I am and that is all I'm doing stating my opinion which I based on facts for my own personal experiences at this restaurant.

Visited before covid struck but this restaurant was pleasant. Good atmosphere, friendly staff, amazing Steak sandwich. Good pricing. Great setup and very laid back yet professional.

Flies in the drinks . Ants on the seats & walls. A boy already started eating his food & they switched & Gave his plate to another customer.

Slow service. Especially at the drive thru. Also pretty expensive

Pork chop sandwich was bone-in - good way to lose a tooth. Beef in the burger tasted ho-hum. Fries were slightly under-cooked. Grilled ham and cheese sandwich was thankfully fool proof, and reasonably cheap. Food took a LONG time to be served. Service was efficient. Wouldn't stop in again when going by.

They have some really good food, especially for Sunday lunch. Fried chicken is some of the best around. The macaroni and cheese is always great, and the rice and gravy is delicious. Food off the regular menu ranges from salads, to steak, to chicken, and everything in between. Waitresses have always been friendly too.

was recommended as a very good place to eat..... we went for supper, no veggies on menu my order , vegetarian chef salat came long after every one in the group hat theres, we were 10 in our group. got mein with every ones mane entry, but my onionring fries and coslaw came 25 min later.... it was not an enjoyable familie meal for us...

I visited here with my friend. Everything was well managed. Everything was well managed. Staff were professional. Food was awesome at reasonable prices.

Food is decent, not overpriced, we had breakfast. Now, we ourselves are Southerners from a nearby community, but it is quite apparent that these folks are not accustomed to customers from out of town. Everyone seemed surprised to see people they didn't know. They were very slow to come to our table and took even longer to serve the order. If we lived locally, we'd eat there all the time, but we will find somewhere else the next time we go that way.

A friend and I go quite often. We always get the fried chicken , rice and gravy. Never had any problems of service. Its a busy place so sometimes you just have to be patient. I have been there several times by myself, no problem. Right now their short handed. So just bear with them.

Omg!, I came down from Michigan to see my family and I swear the shrimp my parents got was old and cold, if anyone knows shrimp and fish it's my parents.
